Hello From Katie, Lauren, Matt, and Sam!
We all sit at Table 4, we found out that we all have dark hair, we all like music, but we all like very different types of music, (Katie likes heavy metal, Lauren likes R&B, Matt likes SKA, and Sam likes anything.) We all are over 5 foot, but are all different heights. The other posts in our page will be work we do in Science. Read, and Enjoy!

Our objective today is to work on our lab reports.
I'm going to be taking notes on our class today, it's going to be interesting, typing and taking notes in my notebook. I'm not going to type the whole lab conclusion on here, but I'm going to give tips on how to write a good conclusion, any 8th grade kid who does lab reports will find this useful.
Having a strong opening sentance is important in having an effective conclusion.
The first paragraph should be about your data.
Before writing this paragraph it can help to organize your data in a web.
Study your data, and/or web to find relationships between results to support your conclusion.
Your second paragragh should address your hypothesis.
Look at your hypothesis, find out if it was correct or incorrect, if it was incorrect, identify why it was wrong.
Your third paragraph should talk about important scientific concepts, like vocab words, formulas, and laws.
Explain how these concepts apply to the lab, how they explain the lab results.
Your third paragraph should end with extra details, like unforseen problems, connections to other labs, or topics, and possible extentions on the lab.
Using these tips you can make a complete lab conclusion that will impress any teacher. Organizing your thoughts ensures that you don't skip anything, and that your conclusion is complete.

Today we are working on making a poster to show the main ideas of Chapter 11 which we start this week. I'm going to put up some vocabulary that is on the poster. Atoms- This is the smallest particle into which an element can be divided into while remaining the same substance. Nucleus- The small dense positively charged region in the center of an atom. Electrons- Negatively charged particles found in atoms. Protons- Positively charged particles found in atoms. Neutrons- Particles of the nucleus that have no charge.
Here are some main topics, picked out by Lauren, and Sam, these are topics that they believe are going to be important.
Atomic Theory
Elements
The Modern Theory
Forces in Atoms
Anatomy of an Atom
Mrs. Laguna is having us go on the website www.chem4kids.com to learn more about atoms. She really wants us to be prepared for this chapter. Lauren is doing a great job illustrating an atom, once she's done maybe we can get a picture and post it with our new information! We'll write more later!

We're going to be talking as our elements today, so here it goes.
Lauren...
Hi my name is Rubidum. I'm part of the Alkali Metal family, we're all highly reactive.I react fiercely with water so I can't go swimming which really stinks because I looks like so much fun. Normally I'm a silvery white, but when I burn I turn a lovely red-violet.
Sam...
Hi my name is Gold, my atomic number is 79. I'm part of the Transition Family. My favorite thing to do is to make jewelry, I'm fabulous at that. I also used to make coins.
Matt...
I'm Plutonium, I hang out in atomic bombs, nuclear reactors and I like hanging out outside. People thought for a while I was synthetic, but I'm not.
Katie...
The name's Arsenic, I'm a dark silvery metalloid, and I'm deadly. I'm in LEDs, poisons, and medicines. I'm part of the BCNO Family. I've been around for a while.
